Intial research: Jonathan Adler

For my interior design project. I will be designing an Autism room that may meets there specific needs. therefore I am looking for Jonathan Adler work were I got my inspiration from to do my project, Jonathan Adler is also known for his witty and whimsical designs, also he's famous for his ceramics and accessories.  The image below is one of Jonathan designs which contains Boucle sofa, pillows, side table and the wall design as well. For the sofa, Jonathan Adler sofas are made using high quality materials and the sofa below is made by using premium upholstery fabrics boucle and metal sofa. Also the sofa is designed and customized as curved sectionals furniture with metal gold legs. the colour of the sofa is Olympus Oatmeal 'creamy'  as well as this sofa is made to be soft, cozy, and comfortable to feel like heaven ' JA wanted to create a settee that looks and feels like heaven' (2018). That is why i got inspired in his work because comfortable and soft sofas can provide a sense of security and relaxation for children with autism  'For a child with autism, sounds can be stressful. An easy way to minimize noise at home is to fill the house with soft, plush furnishings' Choosing soft furnishings is great for comfort and can also be a good choice for safety'(Gwen, 2021) and also the sofa has no edges so its safe for them because some of autism children jump on sofas for a specific need. 'If your child with autism is constantly bouncing on the couch, he is probably trying to tell you something. He is letting you know that his body needs input'.(Lingle, 2020).

This room is a sensory room for autism children. Autism children have their own type of making their room, in this room there is a tent with Led light because each autism children love a specific a light colour and tone so they use any colour they want 'light blue tones for treating pain, depression and sadness while the darker shades of blue are used for sedative purposes for treating insomnia'(Ohwovoriole, 2023).  So each corner in sensory room is important. However, the Jonathan Adler sofa can fit in this sensory room to give the children the feel of safety and comfortable where they can go sit in it so they can feel as comfortable as they can where it will help them to get relax as well so they can feel like heaven.

In my own work I will be looking at more research on sensory room and what do they like, and I will explore further techniques and skills to inform my own design that I will be doing for my project.
