Space Planning

for my space planing I am making a mezzanine holiday home, but before start discussing my space planning let's write more about mezzanine floor and what is it. Mezzanine floor is a custom made and a temporary structure built within a building to create an upper level floor. the floor is centraily is located between the ceiling and the ground floor, offering a new usable space while maintaining the building main structure. Also the the top level is not walled in, so the ground floor can be seen from the mezzanine level (Charing, 2020)

When it comes to my space, I am doing an open plan mezzanine hut to optimize space and make it easier for people to move more freely which makes it a more comfortable and non-pressure place. to do that we have to consider more than thing not just the type of the house and how it looks but also how spaces might relate to one another in terms of their proximity and their separation from each other. Secondly, to determine how the space might be organized with the rest of the house so it can work as it needs which we call it a spatial strategy (www.oreilly.com, n.d.). Space planning is important for this design. it entails thinking how people will move through and use the space. the idea is to find a balance between the space and the client needs.

starting with my space , the first to be considered is the dimensions of the space so before adding anything i tried to make the best dimension according the location that the project will set on, so i end up by doing it 973.4 sf, where it will be divided in two spaces (mezzanine floor). however, the first thing that should be added in the place is the windows, doors, and how the light will be in my plan. There are windows throughout the entire hut and a large window in the main front wall, which will be the place where the most time will be spent, which is the living room. In this way i can bring natural light into the house which helps to bring out nature and reflects the atmosphere of the place into the hut in a beautiful way, as well as the reflection of light that will come from it that enhance the space mood.

other that natural light, what about at night? how I need the light to come in to the space where they will be located. So I spread the light around the room in a way that wherever you set in the space the light will not disturb and will not bothered  you and in that way i can ensure people comfort from being disturbed by the the light. and if the light was set wrong it is easy and quickly a room can change from being functional and cosy to chaotic and uncomfortable "a good light is not just something to be looked at in its own right; its task is also to show things around it to their best advantage"(Ramstedt, 2020, pp.100–116) and wrong lights can result in headaches and tiredness which i need to avoid to give my clients the best experience. Furthermore, when deciding on the lighting for a room, its important to create a balance between direct and indirect lighting, my lights are spread through in a way that it will not be disturbed for people.

while I am planning my space i tried to use the 'inviter' idea is something that piques your curiosity and draws you into the space. It may be an interesting element that captures your attention and makes you want to step in and look at it more carefully, or just to sense the vibe of the space (Ramstedt, 2020, pp.100–116). so i created a space to move freely in and out with some catches details. so as you step in you will be invited with the beautiful surrounding of Ajloun, Jordan with The cosy living room in the middle of the space, which is the central area of the hut, and the beautiful mini built-in garden to the right of the living room to refresh the space and give a new experience to people living in a naturally inspired space. and to your left hand there is a kitchen, it is all about generating a flow that is consistent with the rest of the building. this is the first floor which is a open plan that contain kitchen and living room with a mezzanine floor.

going to the next floor, which includes bedroom, and bathroom. the left side will be all opened where you can see the first floor (mezzanine floor). in here i used sliding door for the bathroom to save space for the rest of the room. in this section the lights are more indirect for the bedroom area with to create a calm mood which people can sleep with a great mood. the organization of the furniture is going to be easy live with so you can start and finish the day in a nice relaxed way. The colours that I used for both floors are chosen according to what could make a calm and inviting space to attract people and catch their eyes which are light Blue and dark Brown which make a nice blend

while doing all of that i've put myself in the client position to see from there point of view and it is a good way to make a good plan that can attract people to come in to the space that you designed, so everything was considered to make the best outcome for the clients and visitors that are going to use the space. from how to navigate to lighting to layout.
