Retail Shop Layout: Research

Retail Store

The Layout of the store is one of the most important aspect in designing a fashion and footwear shop. They are important because they are the layouts that lead your customers through your store. A good plan will take into consideration your normal foot traffic, product placement, flow of the traffic (speed, 2022).  The main three components of a retail store layout are the customer flow, shop design, checkout areas.

The customer flow is the regular path that customer use when they are visiting the store. Most customers when they inter the shop the turn right and walk through the space in a counter clockwise direction and exit from the left side, so when I start designing my space I have to put people movement into consideration, so people should be able to move around my store at a rate that promotes browsing and buying (Cradit, 2022). "Understanding customer traffic flow is vital to your overall retail management strategy." (www.skynova.com, n.d.).

Checkout areas

The checkout areas is more than a place for cash register. Its the final opportunity to upsell a customer. So the the customer should be able to explore and buy things while they are waiting to be paid and their is a various styles for a checkout areas to consider like, checkout counter cash wrap, checkout lanes, self service kiosk, and customer queue (Cradit, 2022). But the most common in the last 3 years is the self service kiosk and customer queue. Self service kiosk is a little freestanding structure enables customers to finish transaction on their own, and it is frequently used to enhance client happiness and efficiency in operations (Cradit, 2022).

Now after we talked about what is retail layout is and its component and how can I improve my customers experience, Now lets see which layouts type I will use in my store and which one is the best for a fashion and footwear store. First one is the Grid Layouts

Grid Layout is good fro classifying various products and they work well in some retail places. They are simple to put and arrange. They work by placing the shelves in an evenly way (speed, 2022). But I think for my store the Grid layout will be not good for many reasons, firstly because the look of it like this is not nice, and it harder for the customer to look through the products which makes my customers get confused and end up by buying nothing because it makes the place much smaller and crowded. "However, creating an exciting and experiential experience with this familiar layout can be challenging." (Cradit, 2022).

Mainly what I am going to use in my store is the free flow with with Angularity. These both are used for a nice look store and gives the customer the freely to move around without getting board because they are flexible and adaptable and helps to establish the brand identity (TBD, 2023). My aim while doing my layout is to make sure that the customers will want to go in the store and look around. Moreover, always the customer is the most important thing while doing anything, so I will try to make what the customers need to see in their life.
